Tiger Woods and Mike Trout Open Trout National in New Jersey

Trout National — The Reserve officially opened on April 15, 2026 in Vineland, New Jersey.

The 18-hole course was designed by Tiger Woods and his TGR Design firm. The club was developed by Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout, a Vineland native, alongside local businessman John Ruga. The course had been open for preview play since October 2025.

The layout spans more than 280 acres of terrain that transitions from a former silica sand mine to surrounding farmland, tipping out at 7,519 yards as a par 72 with four par 3s and four par 5s. The routing was designed to disturb as little of the land as possible. “While the scale of the property offered significant freedom for TGR Design, the primary goal for Tiger and his team was to move as little earth as possible in the sandy areas to preserve the natural, rugged character of the quarry,” said Tyler Trout, project lead for Trout National.

“Mike and John found a site with a lot of character to make some outstanding golf holes,” Woods said. “The sandy and diverse terrain has so many great natural features that have given us a lot of options on how to create a special course.”

Water comes into play on six holes. The par-3 eighth hole features a peninsula green, and the par-72 course closes with a risk-reward 18th where water guards the final approach. Fairways are wide and framed by playable sandy waste areas. The greens are large and contoured, featuring Spectrum Creeping bentgrass with low-cut surrounds that allow for a variety of short-game shots. The 10th hole — a 525-yard par 4 with a dogleg left, water hazard, and sandy waste areas guarding the approach — is considered the most challenging on the course.

“Some of my favorite golf experiences have been ones that have challenged my game while still having fun and that’s what we wanted to create at Trout National,” Trout said.

The course also features The Bullpen, a six-hole fully lit reversible short course designed by TGR Design, and Under the Lights, a 24,000-square-foot putting course lit for nighttime play. An on-course comfort station called Aaron’s — named after Mike Trout’s late brother-in-law — sits between holes six and eleven, featuring wrap-around terraces, fire pits, and an indoor-outdoor bar.

Trout National is a private club, with membership by invitation only, though the course will be open for public play on a limited basis. “Trout National stands in stark contrast to the traditional, storied clubs of the region,” Tyler Trout said. “The goal was to create a private oasis that feels relaxed and modern while still offering a world-class, major championship level test of golf.”

The course sits within 30 miles of Pine Valley Golf Club, widely considered the top-ranked course in the world. Trout, who carries a 2 handicap, reportedly eagled the 18th hole his first two times playing the course.

“Having Trout National open is a true full circle moment,” Trout posted on X following the opening. “What started as a hometown vision is now a reality, built alongside an incredible group of family, friends, and partners who believed in it from the start.”
