Bryson DeChambeau missed the cut at the 2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills on Friday, finishing at 5 over par after rounds of 70-75. It marks the first time in his career he has missed three consecutive major cuts.
DeChambeau opened Thursday with an even-par 70, a round that could have been better had he not finished with two late bogeys. On Friday, he three-putted for back-to-back double bogeys on the 3rd and 4th holes, added four bogeys, and shot a 75. He did not speak with the media after his second round.
The missed cut comes after DeChambeau failed to reach the weekend at both the Masters and PGA Championship earlier this year. He shot 6 over at Augusta National and 7 over at Aronimink Golf Club. Through three major starts in 2026, he is a collective 18 over par.

DeChambeau has won twice on LIV Golf in 2026 and is second in the field this week in strokes gained off the tee, but ranked 148th in strokes gained approach. The two-time U.S. Open champion won at Winged Foot in 2020 and Pinehurst in 2024. He has missed the cut in four of his last five major starts, with his lone top finish in that stretch a tie for second at last year’s PGA Championship, five shots behind Scottie Scheffler.
DeChambeau had addressed the possibility of continued major struggles before the week began.
“To be honest, missed cuts are gonna happen,” DeChambeau said. “I might miss all four of them in majors this year. That’s just golf. Like, I’m playing great. I just haven’t shown up when it mattered most.”
He also posted on Instagram earlier in the week: “Like this post if you think I’m going to make my first cut.”

With LIV Golf’s future uncertain, DeChambeau addressed the league’s prospects last month in South Korea. “We’ll see if investors like it or not,” he said. “I’m giving all I can to make it happen, and if it doesn’t, it doesn’t happen.”
DeChambeau’s next major opportunity is The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale next month.
