Good Good Deletes Callaway Driver Ad After Facing Heavy Backlash

Good Good Golf removed a promotional video for its Callaway driver collaboration after the ad drew widespread criticism on social media. The video shows Garrett Clark tackling a female golfer who attempts to pull a new Callaway driver from his golf bag. Clark then stands over the woman, sternly saying, “Do not touch my new driver.”

The ad was pulled from social media after backlash spread across X, Instagram, and TikTok. Screenshots and video clips of the ad continued to circulate after it was taken down. See some of the responses below:

Neither Callaway nor Good Good Golf has released a statement addressing the ad as of now.

Good Good Golf is a YouTube golf channel founded by a group of friends including Matt Kendrick, Garrett Clark, Stephen Castaneda and Matt Scharff. The channel has grown into a broader media and apparel business, with Kendrick serving as CEO.

Good Good Golf and Callaway entered a formal partnership on January 3, 2023. The deal went beyond a standard equipment sponsorship, including Callaway clubs carrying Good Good branding and giving the group access to Callaway staff players such as Jon Rahm and Xander Schauffele for content.

The partnership has expanded in the years since. Good Good has released co-branded equipment lines with Callaway, including the Quantum MAX and Quantum Triple Diamond drivers, and the group’s apparel and equipment products are sold in more than 800 Dick’s Sporting Goods locations nationwide. Callaway remains one of Good Good’s primary brand partners alongside sponsors including GMC, Yeti, Mountain Dew and SuperStroke.
