The Wyndham Championship closes the PGA Tour regular season this week at Sedgefield Country Club. Only the top 70 players in the FedExCup standings advance to the postseason. Everyone else goes home.
The playoffs are made up of three events. The top 70 after Sunday advance to the FedEx St. Jude Championship, Aug. 13-16 in Memphis. The top 50 after that event move on to the BMW Championship at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis. The top 30 after the BMW advance to the TOUR Championship at East Lake, where a $40 million purse is on the line and the FedExCup champion earns $10 million.
Here are five notable players fighting to keep their season alive at Sedgefield.
Jackson Koivun, No. 70
Koivun holds the final playoff spot. The 21-year-old rookie jumped from 194th to the bubble with a three-shot win at the 3M Open, breaking the tournament’s 72-hole scoring record at 25-under 259. He tied for 31st at the Rocket Classic last week, enough to hold his spot but not enough to build a cushion. He has 558 points entering Greensboro.
“Being 70 is great,” Koivun said. “It’s a good and bad spot, but it gives me an opportunity to go earn making the Playoffs.”
Keegan Bradley, No. 72
The U.S. Ryder Cup captain climbed from 76th to 72nd with a tie for 15th at the Rocket Classic, sitting at 540 points. Bradley needs to jump at least two spots at Sedgefield to reach Memphis.

Jason Day, No. 75
Day withdrew from the Rocket Classic and enters the Wyndham Championship needing a good finish to extend his season. The former world No. 1 has been a fixture in the playoffs for over a decade, but a missed postseason is a real possibility this week.
Brooks Koepka, No. 86
Koepka has one top-10 finish in 15 starts this season. He finished T14 at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, then withdrew and missed two straight cuts before a T28 at the Open Championship. The five-time major winner needs one of the best weeks of his season just to climb inside the top 70.
Tony Finau, No. 89
Finau has never missed the FedExCup Playoffs since earning his PGA Tour card in 2014. That streak is in real jeopardy this week.
Speaking during the Rocket Classic, Finau said, “At the end of the day, no matter where you are, if you play good golf, you’re going to run through the FedExCup Playoffs. You can’t be too focused on where you are, but I do like knowing though. I’ve got to have two really good weeks to make it to the Playoffs.”

The Wyndham Championship tees off Thursday with $8.5 million on the line. Cameron Young is the defending champion and the top-ranked player in the field. Every player from No. 61 to No. 125 in the current standings is entered this week.
