Lucas Glover has absolutely had it with AimPoint, and Sunday at the 3M Open may have been the breaking point. On the 10th hole after making a 9-foot birdie putt, Glover walked off to the side of the green and took his shoes off before getting his ball out of the hole. Taking his shoes off appears to be in protest of other players stomping around the hole while doing their AimPoint routine, which Glover has been critical of in the past.
Glover has called for AimPoint to be banned from the PGA Tour since January 2025. On the Jan. 28, 2025 episode of “The Lucas Glover Show” on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio, Glover said the method should be eliminated.
“Statistically, AimPoint hasn’t helped anybody make more putts since its inception on the PGA Tour,” Glover said. “Statistics have borne that out. It’s also kind of rude to be up near the hole, stomping around figuring out where the break is in your feet. It needs to be banned. It takes forever.”

Collin Morikawa responded to Glover’s comments in February 2025 at the Genesis Invitational.
“I have nothing against Lucas, but if we’re banning AimPoint I think we should ban long putters as well,” Morikawa said.
Glover revisited the topic in a June 2026 appearance on the Trey Wingo podcast, revealing that multiple players confronted him about the comments the following week in Phoenix.
“When I made those comments, I had a couple of guys the next week in Phoenix come up to me and say, ‘hey man, are you talking about me?'” Glover said. “I said no, I’m not talking about anybody that does it quickly. I said, by the way, that’s not why you’re a great putter. You’re a great putter because you’re starting it where you’re looking.”

Glover also described his continued frustration with slow AimPoint reads.
“I see these people stepping all over the green and each other’s lines from two feet,” Glover said. “It’s very frustrating, but we’re all out here trying to do the same thing and that’s trying to get the ball in the hole as quickly as possible.”
“It’s still frustrating out here, or when I see it on TV when it’s pretty sluggish,” Glover said.
AimPoint is used by numerous players on the PGA Tour, including Adam Scott, Viktor Hovland, Justin Rose, Keegan Bradley, Max Homa, Collin Morikawa, Tommy Fleetwood, Sam Burns, Ludvig Aberg, and Dustin Johnson.
