Justin Rose Signs With McLaren Golf as First Global Ambassador and Investor

Justin Rose is taking his game and his bag in a new direction.

Rose has signed a deal with McLaren Golf to become the brand’s first global ambassador, and will debut the McLaren clubs at the Cadillac Championship in Miami in coordination with the company’s global launch of its first set of irons. He was previously an equipment free agent.

Rose is not just an ambassador. He is also an investor in the company. Rose is expected to game a set of McLaren Series 1 irons 5-P with a Series 3 4-iron. The official launch of the McLaren brand is set for Wednesday, April 29, at the Cadillac Championship, being conducted concurrently with Formula 1’s Miami Grand Prix.

“From the beginning, this has been a passion project,” Rose said in a release. Rose had been working secretly with the brand to test and shape the product line prior to the public launch.

The announcement comes during one of the best stretches of Rose’s career. The 45-year-old former world No. 1 has won twice on the PGA Tour since August and finished in the top 3 at the last two Masters. He leads the PGA Tour in greens in regulation this season and ranks seventh in Strokes Gained: Approach.

Rose is longtime friends with McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown and is a regular playing partner with McLaren Formula 1 driver and reigning world champion Lando Norris.

Known best as a Formula 1 powerhouse, McLaren earlier this year announced its intention to launch a golf division, promising to “push the boundaries of equipment design and manufacturing.”

It is not Rose’s first time betting on a new equipment brand. Rose previously attempted a similar equipment transition in 2019 with Japanese manufacturer Honma, a deal that ended in 2020 following a period of poor performance.
