David Lipsky played the final round of the Baycurrent Classic with a new caddie after veteran looper Darren Woolard reportedly quit on him. Golfweek reported Sunday that Woolard reached his breaking point and told Lipsky to find someone else to carry his bag at Yokohama Country Club. A PGA Tour official confirmed that Lipsky teed off Sunday with a different caddie, and the outlet reported the fill-in may have been his trainer.
Lipsky opened the 72-player, no-cut event with a 5-under 66 on Thursday. He followed with rounds of 72 and 73 with Woolard on the bag, bogeying two of his final three holes Saturday.
Sunday started rough. Lipsky began on the 10th tee and bogeyed four of his first five holes, then played his closing nine bogey-free in 5-under 31 to shoot 1-under 70.

Lipsky finished T54 at 3-under and earned $18,000. Michael Brennan won the event at 16-under. Neither Lipsky nor Woolard has publicly addressed the split.
Woolard was on the bag when Lipsky tied for third at the 2025 John Deere Classic. They matched that result at the 3M Open three weeks later.
Their best finish together came at the Valspar Championship in March. Lipsky was tied for the lead with Matt Fitzpatrick at 10-under until Fitzpatrick birdied the 72nd hole, and Lipsky’s birdie try to force a playoff slid by the cup. He earned $991,900 and 300 FedEx Cup points for the runner-up finish, which remains his only top-10 of the season.
At 38, Lipsky is still chasing his first PGA Tour win. He won the 2012 Handa Faldo Cambodian Classic and the 2014 Omega European Masters in playoffs, added the 2018 Alfred Dunhill Championship and won on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2020.
Lipsky had missed the cut in six of his previous 10 starts and entered the week No. 85 in the FedEx Cup standings. Woolard has previously caddied for Scott Piercy, Taylor Montgomery, K.H. Lee and the late Jarrod Lyle, and his time on Piercy’s bag dates back to at least 2009.
The split is the second mid-tournament caddie change on Tour in as many months. In September, Cliff Ellis took off his bib and walked away from Alejandro Tosti’s bag during the first round of the Biltmore Championship Asheville.

Lipsky has had caddie trouble before. At the 2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage Black, he lost track of time on the putting green behind the first tee and arrived seconds late for his second-round tee time, earning a two-stroke penalty. He still made the cut on the number.
“I wasn’t keeping track of what was going on,” Lipsky said at the time. “My caddie was clearly not keeping track of what was going on, it’s on both of us. I take responsibility but at the end of the day we’re a team and he has to take responsibility as well. I never felt like murdering anyone more than my caddie on the first tee, but he’s alive, not gonna go to jail.”
The FedEx Cup Fall continues in two weeks with the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.
