Kai Trump finished her second college tournament on Tuesday with her best round of the week. The Miami freshman closed with a 5-over 77 at the Golfweek Put Me In Coach Invitational at Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Indiana, after opening with a 14-over 86 and an 8-over 80 during Monday’s 36-hole day.
She made three birdies in the final round and finished at 27-over 243. Trump placed 13th out of 14 players, but lowered her score in every round.
The Put Me In Coach Invitational is an individuals-only event. Players compete for reps and a chance to play their way into their school’s lineup for the next team event.

Trump, the granddaughter of President Donald Trump, made her college debut last month at the Golfweek Fall Classic at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. She tied for 102nd in the 120-player field.
She re-injured her left wrist during that event when a shot near a cart path hit unexpectedly hard ground. “My first college tournament, I hit the ground next to the cart path. Let’s just say there must have been some cart path underneath that ground because it was very hard,” Trump said in a social media post.
Trump had surgery earlier this year to repair damage around the ECU tendon and TFCC in that wrist. Testing after the Fall Classic showed the new damage was less serious than first feared.
“I didn’t fully tear it and just have a little sliver on my TFCC, which is good because that means I can do these stem cells and I can get better,” Trump said. “I was talking surgery, and I can get better faster, so that’s always a blessing.”
Trump turned to stem cell treatments in hopes of avoiding another operation. She will now focus on getting the wrist healthy, and her next start has not been determined.
